Hi, I’m Liz and I’m the gal behind the brand.

It’s a pleasure to meet you!

Since the launch of my company and website, I’ve been hidden behind the brand so I’d like to take this opportunity to – pause – and introduce myself. I’ve been a bit preoccupied so I hope you will pardon my lack of manners. While it’s packaged beautifully, I cannot take full credit – it truly takes a village, or at least a few key people and a branding expert.

Authenticity is pretty high up there on my list of values.  This is why it’s important to expand on who I am.  While much of the site is reflective of my personality I must give credit to the ability of the photographer. She put me at ease and it’s rare that I can say I love pictures of myself.

So this idea of Veggies and Chocolate™ was not an overnight light bulb moment.  In fact, it was 10 years in the making. For a not-so-patient-person, like me, that seems like a lifetime. I had tried to start something many times, but putting a value on yourself can be intimidating. At times it can be easier to believe in others and harder to do so when it comes to yourself.

I’m a 43-year-old female entrepreneur. Of these years, 20 of them are defined by my “dietitian” title. Regardless of where I have been in life or career, I cannot remove what I had striven to become in my early 20’s. I am proud of my education, my experiences and ongoing love for learning about the complexities surrounding nutrition. Entrepreneurship was not initially in the cards.  In fact, I became quite comfortable with my strong work ethic and having defined roles in the workplace – living the American dream of attending college, then attaining the career with benefits and all.

As life would have it, my roles and how I defined myself started to change. First I became a ‘wife,’ then, was gifted the role of ‘mother.’ I continued to work, but with a move for my spouse’s career, a push-pull relationship with staying home vs working became a reality. I still found my way back into the workplace, but with our second daughter on the way, I came back home.

My passion for nutrition has never left me. It has evolved – for the better. My journey has prepared me for this. It incorporates understanding, compassion and a little extra wisdom from life’s realities. From teen insecurities, body changes, dating, career development, marriage, motherhood, aging and what’s yet to come – I realize life is not remotely easy nor clear in definition. I am ever-changing, as are you.

I too am lured in by the promises of quick results, however, I view them with a bit more skepticism and knowledge-backed questioning. I also feel your guilt and struggle with comparison. I see the beautiful picture perfect meals, the family gatherings, the end products – without pausing at times to realize this is not my reality, nor, does it need to be.

I am asking for your grace, trust, encouragement and feedback while I gather like-minded individuals. I value my clients. Your opinion matters.  As much as I would like to say I quit caring what others think it would be completely untrue. Relationships are the cornerstone of what fuels my passion. I am extremely loyal and want to walk with those who are ready to place more value on themselves and their health.

So no more hiding behind the brand for me. Take a chance, reach out and say hello. Set up a consultation. I want to know you. I want to hear your dreams, connect you to the right resources or be the resource you did not know existed. Not to sound cliché, but together let’s make 2018 your best year yet.

Together, let’s uncover the healthier version that you want to become.
